Brazil’s poultry export 11% In August to Middle East

New data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) shows that shipped volume of poultry rose in August, but revenue declined.

According to reporting from the Brazil-Arab News Agency, poultry sales from Brazil to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates increased last month.

Exports of shipped volume from Brazil rose 11.3 percent year-on-year to 362,400 tonnes. The exports included raw and processed poultry. Despite the uptick in exports, revenues dropped by 10 percent to $497.8 million.

For Saudi Arabia specifically, Brazilian poultry imports jumped 24 percent to 46,700 tonnes. UAE imports also climbed 24 percent to 25,800 tonnes.

ABPA data shows that China increased its imports by 46 percent to 54,700 tonnes, making it the leading importer of Brazilian poultry. A press release from ABPA chairman Ricardo Santin says “monthly export results have been positive regarding virtually all major importers of poultry from Brazil. The uptrend in exports helps alleviate the impact of the hike in costs stemming from the pandemic and high grain prices.”
